Announcing a new collaboration: Trade Speakeasy and artist Fabien Diffe
Celebrating Juneteenth: Seeking Full Emancipation
Trade Speakeasy is a place for like-minded traders to use stock options to change the trajectory of their family’s future, and a place for transformation, discovery, and freedom. The Trade Speakeasy strives to foster these values in our community and the homes of our members to advance the values of full emancipation!
In honor of Juneteenth, Trade Speakeasy and Cameronian artist Fabien Diffe are releasing Limited Edition Decolonize Money Art Prints. The series honors those before us who were not able to experience the fullness of liberty, dignity, and emancipation. This set of 12 unique art prints highlights the indignity that slavery and colonization have played and elevates the common power our members share in their financial liberation to change the narrative of wealth.
Who is artist Fabien Diffe, and What are the Decolonize Money Art Prints
The Decolonize Money series was inspired by Fabien Diffe Kamga’s personal experience growing up in Cameroon where the local currency (CFA Francs) is printed in France. The deep wounds left by colonial powers on the African continent have been pervasive: destabilizing commodity flows, leaving behind puppet governments, and embedding ethnic hierarchies that have led to genocide, war, and famine. Colonization has left behind deep wounds, which hindered innovation and development crippling individual African countries from printing their own currency locally.
The Decolonize Money series of twelve unique images highlights both the wounds left by colonization and war, but also the current hurdles in education, culture, and infrastructure that limit individual countries from achieving robust independence in the symbol of local currency.
This Juneteenth, the Trade Speakeasy has partnered with Diffe to offer our community an artistic emblem about a past that no one can or should forget. The art’s strong imagery reinforced the ongoing importance of uprooting the branding of colonialism and enslavement left on communities of color and highlighting Africa’s unique history, culture, art, leadership, and global trade value.
Trade Speakeasy Founder, Suzanne Manar Noukahoua’s, Vision
After years of working in human rights and international law, I never thought being an options trading educator and founder of Trade Speakeasy would be the means by which I could most directly affect change, and bring greater equity to the financial space for people of color, and for vulnerable families.
When Diffe began working on the series: Decolonized Money I knew Trade Speakeasy and Diffe would collaborate. The intersectionality of Diffe’s work and the aims of Trade Speakeasy fit like hand in glove. The years I’d spent working throughout the Middle East and Africa working on humanitarian issues that focused on equal rights for ethnic and religious minorities felt like they’d been reborn in Diffe’s art.
Decolonize Money and the Macroeconomics in Options Trading
Diffe’s work strikes at the heart of Trade Speakeasy. The range of macroeconomic themes that we discuss daily, which has allowed many of our members to achieve a new level of financial stability and freedom, are the same issues highlighted in the Decolonized Money series.
Trade Speakeasy doesn’t want to just talk about supply chain kinks, the food crisis, or the lack of equality in negotiating value propositions for commodities in emerging markets. Trade Speakeasy members want to honor the process that emancipation is not given once and for all, but equality and equity have to be worked for, fought for, and strived for.
At Trade Speakeasy, we don’t seek financial liberation for the sake of liberation, but for the greater empowerment to sit at the decision-making table, to elevate the voice of those that are vulnerable, to protect those crushed by the reality of famine and poverty, and to always give our children a visual reference that their future is ours to protect and to write.
